I was unable to be there for the initial recording process in January because I was attending the funeral of the godliest lady I’ve ever known, my grandmother. The group was so kind to let me come up in February to record my part of the project.
Towards the end of my scheduled time to record, we realized that we needed one more song for the project. I suggested one of my favorite songs of all time, “God’s Been Good.” As I lay down the piano and scratch track, about halfway through the song, I received a text from my wife. The text was a picture of my wife and five-month-old son, and the words, “We love you.” I couldn’t hold back the tears as I looked at the picture form of the words I was singing, “God‘s been good.”
We all face times of grief and sorrow. Many know the heartache of the loss of a loved one, but truly it can be said, “Though I’ve had my share of hard times, I wouldn’t change them if I could, For through it all, God‘s been good.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “And he said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
