Broken and Spilled Out

One of the most meaningful moments in the recording process of this project happened when we asked my dad, Bro. Stacey Merriott to join us on a song that has been part of our family for as long as I can remember, “Broken and Spilled Out”.

Growing up, I heard my dad sing this song as a church special more times than I can count. It was always a quiet moment with the Holy Spirit moving. The lyrics talk about being completely poured out for Jesus. It reminds us of the woman with the alabaster box who broke the box and poured its contents at the feet of Christ. That wasn’t just a song for my dad. It has been the story of his life. He has lived every word of it: serving, loving, sacrificing, pouring out, and being used up for the Lord and for our family without ever holding anything back.

There was something incredibly special about watching him in the studio as he cut his vocals. I can’t even put into words the thrill it brought my heart to have my dad, my hero, my Goodly Heritage, to be featured on this album with us. It was a sacred moment that I will never forget.

Dad, thank you for showing me what it really means to live “broken and spilled out” for Jesus. You instilled in me the deep purpose to live these same words every day… and now, through this song, we get to share that legacy with every hurting heart that listens.

We pray this song will minister to you the same way it has ministered to our family for years. Would you listen, share it with someone who needs encouragement today, and keep praying for us as we continue to produce God-honoring music?
